Puss in Boots by Philip Pullman, Illustrated by Ian Beck
Let me start by writing down everything that's on the torn cover of the second-hand book I have.
Roughly a month back, I picked up Puss in Boots at the second-hand bookstore near where I live. I watched (and liked) the Puss in Boots animated movies and I liked the book when I quickly browsed through it at the store. The art is quirky, for lack of a better word. The cover was partially torn when I bought it but Luffy decided to tear it further as soon as we got it home. He didn't touch it for weeks after that.
Funnily enough, it's one of the bed-time books that Preeti and Luffy "read" in complete darkness now. Preeti and I like the story and it's short enough that Luffy doesn't lose interest. The art style is in stark contrast to anything I've written about so far (or anything I've ever read for that matter)! Solid recommendation to kids (and parents).
P.S. I just learnt that the author, a Mr. Philip Pullman, is the author of His Dark Materials. You might've heard about it because it's been adapted into a major TV show.
